THE ADVENTURE: Lifechanging Travel

TWO WEEKS IN MOROCCO: in bustling Marrakesh, across the Agafay desert, and through the Atlas Mountains was the shooting schedule of The Adventure, a new travel reality television show concept from Curt Anderson. As the Digital Imaging Technician and Still Photographer during the shoot, I was well prepared for a successful post-production process where I was the lead editor of both the sizzle and pilot. I worked under the director and showrunner to log over 100 hours of footage, perform multicam timecode sync, and handle the organization and the editing of both these projects.

SIZZLE

This is a snippet from the sizzle I edited for The Adventure: Lifechanging Travel, in order to option the show to various networks.

This is a scene from the beginning of the pilot episode of The Adventure: Lifechanging Travel.

COMMERCIAL WORK

CHUBBIES

I've been editing 15-30 second advertisements for Chubbies, a men's athletic-wear brand, since 2020. Their brand is fun, spontaneous, and vibrant, so I get to utilize bright colors, exciting transitions, and dramatic speed ramps in my work. They always need video exports in different aspect ratios for use on everything from Youtube to Instagram to TikTok, so I’ve also quickly become adept at adjusting edits for cross-platform utilization. This work has taught me that branded promotional videos can be loads of fun while delivering a meaningful testimonial for a corporation.

ADELPHI UNIVERSITY

When I got a job as a student worker at my university's Web Development and Digital Strategy team, I had no idea it would lead to a breadth of creative opportunities that allowed me to grow as an editor. I started out editing tutorial videos for the AdelphiTech YouTube channel as well as promotional videos for new website and mobile app features.

I eventually branched out to do work for other departments across the university, such as the Communications and Marketing team, the School of Education (a short film about their writer's retreat program), and the Honors College.

Honors college film

I was asked by the Dean of the Honors College to direct, shoot, and edit this ten minute film that is shown to potential students and their families at each entrance interview for the Adelphi University Honors College. I shot b-roll, filmed interviews with faculty and students, transcribed interviews, wrote the script, and cut the film. Getting the opportunity to capture the value of my experiences at the Honors College and communicate that to future students was a highly rewarding experience.

Fall 2020 restart video

After the Spring 2020 semester came to an abrupt end, the classroom experience was going to be very different in Fall of 2020. I was called to cut a video that gently and succinctly introduced the changes coming to the university in the wake of COVID-19.

new mobile app promotional video

In 2021, the Adelphi University mobile app was dramatically redesigned and I was asked to cut a short video for YouTube and Instagram to promote the app's new features and modernized design.

Non-profit WORK

PUBLIC EDUCATION PROJECT

The Public Education Project (PEP) is an initiative of the Society for History in the Federal Government to educate the public about federal history and incite curiosity to learn more about the U.S. government. As an intern for PEP, I developed and edited the pilot video for a series of productions with that goal in mind.

After my internship I was asked to come on as a Media Production Adviser and I was contractually employed to continue editing educational videos for PEP Productions. I also edited ads for Facebook to promote these videos as well as ads for the recently launched PEP website. With the newly redesigned branding in mind, I also recut their video series using the new color scheme and fonts and developed graphic assets for future videos while launching the PEP Productions YouTube Channel.

THE EPA IN THE 1970s

The second episode in this first series of videos for PEP Productions focused on the historical significance of the Environmental Protection Agency in its early days.

PEP PRODUCTIONS FACEBOOK AD

This early advertisement for the Society for History in the Federal Government's pilot video for the PEP Productions video series was promoted on Facebook to boost viewership.

NARRATIVE WORK

Building the Triangle Fire Memorial

Working with Academy award nominated director Joan Stein-Schimke, I scripted and edited this short documentary that premiered at the Workers Unite Film Festival in 2019 in New York City.

Wayward

Written and directed by Stephanie Saavedra, I did both editing and sound design for this short film.

Wayward TRailer

I cut a 60 second trailer for social media to promote the short film Wayward.
